The motels there are all a short walking distance from the ocean, so it doesn't really matter, as long as you stay on the island. The beach itself is ok. It's not nearly as scenic as the Oregon beaches but the water is warm enough to swim in. The beach is very large and not too crowded so it's good. I stayed at Tybee Island a couple of months ago, but can’t remember what motel I stayed at. I don't recall having any problems and I would stay there again. But if you want to stay on Tybee Island there wasn't alot of choices anyway. Tybee Island and Savannah are both awsome.
