I lived in Brunswick and worked on St. Simons for 11 years. St Simons Island is overdeveloped and crowded. You reckon traffic is terrible in Atlanta? Hah! Try having half of Atlanta packed onto two lane roads with a 35 mph speed limit!
I would suggest Jekyll or Tybee as better alternatives. Or Fernandina Beach in north Florida for that matter.
Brunswick has a pretty nice beach
Tybee island, and Jekyll Islans are well loved destinations, though Saint Simons would probably be my personal favorite.
