October is probably the prettiest month as it is leaf season. The weather, if I remember correctly in the 50's. I have a beautiful mountian cabin but it is mountain view, not on a lake. I live not too far from there and can tell you there are some nice places to rent on the Neuse River. Take a look at the Fairfield Harbor area http://www.fairfieldharbourhomes.com/golf%20and%20waterfront.html Just a few weeks ago, we rented a condo in the Harbourside II portion of the Harbor and we loved it! During the dates you listed for your visit, the temperature will be quite comfortable, I would say somewhere between the upper 60's to mid 70's. Hope this helps!
